The Paranormal Liberation War Arc is My Hero Academia's most ambitious narrative, a large-scale conflict that marks the end of the series' middle period and initiates its final act — a battle so comprehensive and catastrophic in its consequences that the world the story returns to afterward is fundamentally different from the one before. The Pro Hero society launches a coordinated simultaneous raid on the Paranormal Liberation Front's two primary bases: Tomura Shigaraki's medical facility and the mountain villa headquarters. The raid is planned with precision, but the execution unfolds in ways that no tactical preparation could fully account for — Shigaraki awakening early from his enhancement surgery with power that dwarfs every previous villain, the Nomu activating before planned, and the League of Villains fighting with a cohesion born of genuine loyalty rather than coerced alliance. The arc features All Might-level stakes spread across dozens of simultaneous fights: Mirko's solo assault against the doctors, Endeavor and the No. 1 heroes confronting an awakened Shigaraki, Aizawa and Present Mic battling personal grief in the form of their transformed former student Shirakumo-become-Kurogiri. Most significantly, Midoriya accesses new abilities from previous One For All users during the crisis, and the revelation that Shigaraki's ambition and Midoriya's destiny are entangled at the deepest level of their Quirks transforms the series' endgame from a hero-versus-villain narrative into something approaching mythology.
