Meeting Arc

Inori Atsuki, a young girl with Olympic dreams, meets Tsukasa Enomoto, a failed skater turned construction worker, and convinces him to become her coach despite his reluctance.

The Meeting arc establishes Medalist's foundation through introducing both main characters and their circumstances. Inori is a determined young figure skater with exceptional drive but lacking formal training and coaching. Tsukasa is a former figure skater who quit due to injury and disappointment, working in construction and seemingly resigned to abandoning skating. When Inori encounters Tsukasa and recognizes his skating background, she persistently seeks him as her coach despite his reluctance. Tsukasa initially resists, believing his skating career is behind him, but Inori's determination gradually wears down his resistance. The arc establishes the mentor-student dynamic that forms the heart of Medalist. It also introduces Inori's family, Tsukasa's background in skating, and the basic mechanics of figure skating competition. The arc concludes with Tsukasa reluctantly agreeing to coach Inori, setting their partnership in motion.
