Chihiro witnesses his father's murder at the hands of assassins and the theft of powerful enchanted swords, driving him toward a path of revenge.

The Swordsmith Murder arc establishes the tragic foundation of Kagurabachi. Chihiro Rokuhira's father, Kunishige, was a legendary swordsmith who created enchanted blades of extraordinary power. When assassins attack and kill Kunishige, they steal his creations—six Enchanted Blades that serve as the series' central MacGuffin. Rather than leaving young Chihiro devastated and powerless, Kunishige leaves his son one remaining Enchanted Blade as both weapon and connection to his father's legacy. The arc establishes Chihiro's motivation—he will pursue those responsible for his father's death and recover the stolen blades. The arc efficiently establishes world mechanics, introduces the concept of Enchanted Blades, and sets Chihiro on his path of revenge with clear, compelling motivation.
